Made in Texas
The EPL-24-2L-LV-SOL-XPNL-X120V from Larson Electronics is an Explosion Proof Solar Power LED Light Fixture that is an ideal lighting solution for remote areas and standalone applications where connection to external power is either impractical or unavailable. Charged by a 265 watt solar panel, ten 18aH sealed lead acid batteries located in a seperate surface mount enclosure provide constant, reliable power to the two 28-watt LED fixtures. This unit ships with 30` of 16/3 SOOW cord, connecting the solar panel to the light fixture which allows operators to position the panel where the most ambient light is available. When ordering the solar powered luminary, please select the preferred mounting option and light handling mechanism. This unit also includes a 120V line-out lead from the battery enclosure that allows operators to hard wire 120V equipment or receptacles.
This explosion proof fixture features 2-foot long LED tubes in a dual, side-by-side lighting configuration. Powering the LED lamps are ten, 18aH sealed lead acid batteries. These power packs are located in a surface mount enclosure that is seperate from the solar panel for increased mounting and installation options. The battery pack offers up to 7 hours of continuous operation on a full charge with a 5-hour charge time for both the light fixture and a connected piece of 120V equipment drawing 100 watts of power. To ensure consistent operation during nighttime conditions, a built-in day/night feature, coupled with an on/off switch is available. This fixture ships with 30 feet of 16/3 SOOW cord that connects the light fixture to the solar panel as well as a 120V line-out lead.
As with all solar powered equipment, charging time is affected by the amount of available ambient light. When ambient light levels drop below a certain level, such as on cloudy days, the unit will not recharge as quickly. The day/night sensor is programmed to activate the solar panel in the evening and shut off during the day, while the motion sensor will activate the panel upon detecting motion. An on/off switch activates/shuts off the solar panel according to the operator`s preferences. The operator can switch between modes with a toggle switch.
Durability: The EPL-24-2L-LV-SOL-XPNL-X120V features our second generation LED T-series 14-watt, T17 style lamps which produce 15% more illumination at 8 feet, compared to standard T8 lamps when measured with an Extech light meter. Our LED-T series bulbs are visibly brighter than standard T8s and have consistently surprised many of our customers with their unexpectedly high light output levels. We have eliminated the ballast box normally associated with fluorescent fixtures which reduces overall weight, creates a slimmer unit profile, and helps this LED fixture maintain a T6 temperature rating. The solid state design of the LED lamps gives this fixture superior resistance to damage from vibrations and extremes in temperature as well as a lamp service life over twice that of standard T8 bulbs.
LED Benefits: Unlike gas burning and arc type lamps that have glass bulbs, LEDs have no filaments or fragile housings to break during operation and/or transportation. Instead of heating a small filament or using a combination of gases to produce light, light emitting diodes (LEDs) use semi-conductive materials that illuminate when electric current is applied, providing instant illumination with no warm up or cool down time before re-striking. Because there is no warm up period, this light can be cycled on and off with no reduction in lamp life.
LED lights run at significantly cooler temperatures than traditional metal halide and high pressure sodium lights and contain no harmful gases, vapors, or mercury, making them both safer and more energy efficient. No extra energy is wasted in cooling enclosed work areas due to external heat emissions from bulb type lights, and the operator risks associated with traditional lighting methods, such as accidental burns and exposure to hazardous substances contained in the glass bulbs, are eliminated. Solid state LED lighting is also safer for the environment as LEDs are 100% recyclable. And recycling simultaneously reduces operating costs by eliminating the need for the expensive special disposal services required with traditional gas burning and arc type lamps.
Mounting: Unless otherwise specified, our standard, most popular configuration is the bracket end mounting shown above. We also offer a pendant mount for those needing to suspend the fixture away from the ceiling surface (suspended from pipe or conduit). For standard bracket mounts, each bracket is cinched to the bracket mounting peg on each side of the light. The angle of the bracket is set by tightening two cap screws on either side of the bracket. The cap screws act as a set screw. The bracket itself is mounted via a single bolt hole at the top of the bracket. There are two brackets, one on each end of the light. Once the brackets are mounted to a surface (ceiling, floor or wall), the light fixture can be removed from the brackets by loosening the cap screws that hold the bracket to the mounting peg. The external battery enclosure is mounted seperately from the solar panel and light fixture which further increases this unit`s mounting versatility.
*Please note that the battery enclosure must be mounted OUTSIDE of the hazardous area.*
Applications: Paint spray booths, aircraft maintenance, oil drilling rigs, refineries, solvent and cleaning areas, gas processing plants, chemical manufacturing, waste treatment plants and remote hazardous locations compatible with the unit.
NOTE: Larson Electronics has further upgraded the options available with this light. We expect the light to be mounted separately from the panel. This means the solar panel can be mounted in direct sunlight (not in the hazardous area) while the light is mounted in a hazardous area workspace. Standard installation for explosion proof lighting, including threaded rigid pipe to the LED light fixture and appropriate seal-offs, etc. are required.

A refund may be arranged excluding freight charges upon inspection. Returned merchandise must be shipped in original packaging, freight prepaid, unused, and in resalable condition, and are subject to 25% restocking fee. PuriLite inspects all returns and reserves the right to refuse credits on damaged, used or non-resalable items. Your only obligation is the freight charge and restocking fee, provided your return is complete with original packaging, all documentation, warranty cards, cables etc. PuriLite reserves the right to authorize product returns after 30 days have passed from the order date. If the product is accepted after this period, it is subject to a 25% restocking fee and credit will be issued toward future purchases only.
Shipping and handling charges are non-refundable for all returns. The customer may also be responsible for return shipping charges, insurance and shipment tracking for returned merchandise.
Once you place an order, the following products are non-returnable: custom-cut, customer built or special order items (such as matting, slings, cranes, prefab offices, buildings, mezzanines, assembled lockers and regularly stocked items such as generators, pressure washers, water and trash pumps, snow throwers, radio headsets, striping paint, line stripers, floor care machines, vacuums, custom fabric chairs, forklifts) your order is considered non-cancellable and any custom-cut, customer built or special order items purchased by you are also non-returnable. Consumable style bulbs or lamps are not returnable. There are no returns on any medical and/or sanitizing products for obvious safety reasons. This includes PPE (including masks), tests, thermometers, sprayers and UVC lighting of any kind (portable and surface).
Leased and hazardous items are also non-returnable. Contact customer service for a complete list of applicable products.
Larson product return policy Every order is tested prior to shipping. The product is tested before it is put into the shipping box, crate, pallet, etc. Larson take pictures and videos of every product for every order being shipped, and store these pictures and videos with the order number in our system. Because of the complexity of some of our products, we have a very limited return policy.
For safety reasons, we do not accept returns on any hazardous location, explosion proof or intrinsically safe products. Once these products leave the factory, we cannot be sure what happens to them. We must re-build and re-certify the units to specification to ensure that the next customer receives an item that is safe to use. This is cost prohibitive. For that reason, we do not accept returns on classified products. We do not accept returns on transformers, phase converters, or frequency converters. In order to install one of the aforementioned products, typically customers will modify the product (i.e. penetrate the housing to make connections, punch out knockouts, remove or damage tinning on lead wires during installation). Because we video test every unit before it ships to ensure the unit operates as described, we know when they leave here the units are operationally functional and meet the output voltage when supplied with the input voltage per the product specification. To be clear, we do not accept returns on these items under any circumstances for these reasons.
Products that are not addressed in the above two conditions must be returned in new, unused condition.
Below are some additional considerations:
Electrical/electronic parts are easily damaged by improper installation or testing. Because electronics are very sensitive to voltage overloads, it does not take much of a voltage spike to ruin a component. Because of this risk, all electrical products returned will undergo electrical testing and assessed a testing fee. This fee will be subtracted from the final return value.
Consumable style bulbs or lamps are not returnable.
Products that contain emergency backup components are subject to very narrow warranty terms and do not qualify for return. For customer convenience, we engage the battery pack prior to shipping all emergency backup products. Many times, particularly with hazardous location rated products, the battery packs are difficult to access and the customer generally plans to install the units shortly after receipt of the shipment. Battery backup components using older technologies (Nicad, NIMH, SLA, etc) will fail quickly if they do not maintain valid grid tie support. In other words, the batteries must receive a consistent maintained charge to perpetuate long lifespans. Battery backup products that are shelved (not installed) for periods greater than 3 weeks will likely fail and need replacement sooner. This replacement will not be covered under warranty. This can also occur is the units are installed but the grid tie option is not connected correctly. Customers can specify that they do not want the battery pack to be engaged at the time of ordering if they plan to shelve the units for long periods of time prior to installation.
There are many products on the site and not all pictures depict the exact configuration of each product. Many products are custom built and/or built on demand. In some cases, products are designed and not sold immediately and rendering may be used. In all cases, the end product is built to the specification listed and the pictures shown may be close approximations. Pictures are more likely to be close approximations with more complex products, including transformers, power distribution systems, control systems, light tower systems and other highly customizable products. In no way does the approximation validate a potential return. We always build to the specification. If customers have questions, they should ask prior to purchase to clarify.
There are no returns on any medical and/or sanitizing products for obvious safety reasons. This includes PPE (including masks), tests, thermometers, sprayers and UVC lighting of any kind (portable and surface)
Many international orders, specialty orders and other complex build orders require prepayment in advance. This prepayment represents a commitment to the order. Cancelling the order will result in a deduction from the original amount paid if any refund is available, since an investment of time and money is typically required to acquire materials and prepare the order. While not all orders in this category require prepayment, cancellation fees may apply to other build orders as well. The percentage of the deduction is at Larson’s discretion but usually ranges from 30 to 50%.
