' Product Overview '
Made in the USA The SPLED-BLT.18W-LED-10C from Larson Electronics is a Solar Powered LED Light that is an ideal lighting solution for remote areas and standalone applications where connection to external power is either impractical or unavailable. This 18-watt solar powered LED light is offered in a spotlight or floodlight beam pattern and several different operating configurations, making it ideal for remote applications. An adjustable trunnion mounting bracket allows the LED lamp to be secured at a separate location from the panel. This solar powered LED light is powered by two 20aH lithium-ion batteries that are recharged by a 60-watt solar panel. Light output comes from an 18-watt LED lamp that produces 1,530 lumens. The industrial LED light is offered in a focused 25° spot beam for distance or 60° flood beam for a diffused wide angle beam. An adjustable trunnion mount in the center of the light housing allows for full adjustability after installation, allowing for precise aiming of this LED light. The lamp's housing is constructed of precision machined aluminum for excellent strength and durability, powder coated for corrosion resistance, and is rated IP65 for ingress protection against direct exposure to water jets from all directions. This LED light provides cool white light output with a color temperature of 5000K and color rendering index of 85 for maximum illumination. The high output, cool running operation, and good color rendering properties of this light makes it an ideal replacement for older, bulkier, and less reliable incandescent and halogen lamps. The solar panel is configured to operate non-stop 24/7, day/night with photocell, motion sensor for security purposes, on/off switch for manual operation, or flying leads for operators to connect to user provided external switches. The day/night and motion sensor is programmed to activate the solar panel in the evening and to shut it off during the day, activating the LED light when ambient lighting falls below 1 lux. The motion sensor will activate the panel upon detecting movement within range of the panel. The light runs for 12 hours when the battery is fully charged. The lithium-ion battery pack is contained within the solar panel, not the light. Charging time for the battery is 5 hours when exposed to direct sunlight. As with all solar powered equipment, charging time is affected by the amount of available ambient light. When ambient light levels drop below a certain level, such as on cloudy days, the unit will not recharge. The included 10` SOOW cord with Deutsch 2-pin disconnect that runs between the solar panel and the light offers operators convenience and flexibility during the mounting process.

LED Benefits: Unlike gas burning and arc type lamps that have glass bulbs, LEDs have no filaments or fragile housings to break during operation and/or transportation. Instead of heating a small filament or using a combination of gases to produce light, light emitting diodes (LEDs) use semi-conductive materials that illuminate when electric current is applied, providing instant illumination with no warm up or cool down time before re-striking. Because there is no warm up period, this light can be cycled on and off with no reduction in lamp life. LED lights run at significantly cooler temperatures than traditional metal halide and high pressure sodium lights and contain no harmful gases, vapors, or mercury, making them both safer and more energy efficient. No extra energy is wasted in cooling enclosed work areas due to external heat emissions from bulb type lights, and the operator risks associated with traditional lighting methods, such as accidental burns and exposure to hazardous substances contained in the glass bulbs, are eliminated. In addition, LEDs are also safer for the environment as they are 100% recyclable, which eliminates the need for costly special disposal services required with traditional gas burning and arc type lamps.

Heat Management: Heat is the single largest factor in premature LED failure and color shifting. These LED units contain advanced drivers which use pulse width modulation to control heat buildup rather than simple voltage regulators which are typically harsh on sensitive electronics and can contribute to early LED failure. These units automatically sense the temperature of each LED and adjust the energy frequency or "duty cycle" accordingly to maintain heat levels within acceptable ranges. This system in essence flashes current at an extremely fast on and off rate to each LED based upon the LED`s core temperature. This flash rate is too fast to detect with the human eye, but provides precise control of the current flowing to each LED and thus the heat it generates. This allows the LEDs to be driven at up to 100% capacity without overheating or visible loss of light output. The LEDs are always driven at the same voltage but the duty cycle, however, is changed to alter how long the LEDs are actually on or off. The end result is more light with less heat and longer LED life with an average 70% lumen maintenance after 50,000 hours. Durability: The industrial grade LED light is constructed of machined aluminum for high strength and durability with a powder coated finish for increased corrosion resistance. The housing is IP65 rated, providing protection against intrusion into the housing from oils and water directly sprayed on the housing from all directions. This LED light is equipped with an impact resistant polycarbonate lens for increased safety compared to glass lenses. This design is weather resistant, suitable for indoor or outdoor applications, and ideal for areas where wet conditions are commonly encountered.

Larson Electronics has further upgraded the options available with this light. A ten foot extension cord connects the solar panel to the LED light, allowing the light to be mounted separately from the panel. This means the solar panel can be mounted in direct sunlight while the light is mounted in a workspace. The cord between the light and panel ends in Deutsch connectors, allowing an optional longer extension cord to be attached, increasing the distance the light can be installed from the panel. Optional longer extension cords are available at additional cost. Larson Electronics can also configure this light for special requirements including different lights and larger batteries. Suggested uses for this light include both commercial and industrial applications as well as consumer based installations. This light is ideal for boat docks, remote locations that rely on batteries for power, exterior outbuilding lighting, hunting cabins, parking areas, sign or entryway illumination, driveway lighting and anywhere a standalone lighting solution is needed.
