The SHT-LM-SMDE-30-8-5S-4X400LTL-LED-SMH-UD-EW-RD-E2E five stage telescoping steel light mast with electric winch from Larson Electronics is designed to quickly and safely deploy 1,600 watts of intense LED lighting in locations where elevated illumination is needed for maximum area coverage. This light boom can be extended to 30` for maximum area coverage and collapsed to 8.83` for applications where a footprint smaller is required. The tower is constructed of square steel tubing with a base section 5.92' in length and 6" by 6" by 3/16" thick, lower section 6.04' in length and 5" by 5" by 3/16" thick, middle section 6.19' in length and 4" by 4" by 1/8" thick, upper section 6.34' in length and 3" by 3" by 1/8" thick, and an top section 6.5' in length and 2" by 2" by 1/8" thick. Each section has a 1' overlap. The mast is elevated using an included 2,500 lb electric winch with 3/16" galvanized steel cable.
Included with this light tower is four of our wet area suitable high output LED fixtures producing a combined total of approximately 216,000 lumens at 1,600 watts. The light head contains forty-eight Cree® high output LEDs producing 1125 lumens each are arranged in rows and paired with PMMA high purity optics to produce a well focused 24° wide spot beam that is ideal for providing far reaching concentrated illumination while still covering a substantial amount of area. We also offer optional optics with 10° spot, 38° narrow flood, 60° flood, and 90° wide flood beam spreads. The spot beams are tightly focused and are designed for high elevation mounting to achieve distance, making spot versions ideal for high mast and spots lighting. The flood beams are designed to provide more light over a larger area nearer the fixture, making flood versions ideal for use as dedicated work and area lights. Each floodlight is securely fastened to the light boom and each lamp includes a stainless steel support bracket to help maintain lamp stability within its housing. The lamps are hard wired into a NEMA 3R panel located on the end of the telescoping boom.
Unlike gas burning and arc type lamps that have glass bulbs, LEDs have no filaments or fragile housings to break during operation. Instead of heating a small filament or using a combination of gases to produce light, light emitting diodes (LEDs) use semi-conductive materials that illuminate when electric current applied and emitting light. With LED lights, there is no warm up time or cool down time before re-striking and provide instant illumination when powered on, adding to the reliability of LED technology. By nature, LED light sources run significantly cooler than traditional lamps, reducing the chance of accidental burns and increased temperatures due to heat emissions. This solid state design of light emitting diodes provides a more reliable, stable, durable, and energy efficient light source over traditional lighting.
Heat Management: Heat is the single largest factor in premature LED failure and color shifting. These LED units feature individual heat sinks per bank of six LEDs to control heat buildup rather than utilizing a single housing to dissipate heat. This allows for more thorough cooling of the LEDs for extended operating periods. This allows the LEDs to be driven at up to 90% capacity without overheating or visible loss of light output. The end result is more light with less heat and longer LED life with an average 70% lumen maintenance after 80,000 hours. In addition, should an LED failure occur, these LED flood lights are field serviceable. Each bank of six LEDs can be replaced with the fixture installed. This allows for the tower to stay in operation until repairs can take place, and eliminates the need to remove and disassemble the entire fixture for repairs.
Durability: As well as unparalleled heat control, the GAU-HB-400W-LED-SS series of LED lights from Larson Electronics also offer IP67 rated construction that is designed to withstand extremes of environmental and operating conditions. These units can withstand rapid temperature changes of -40° Celsius to +80° Celsius, are waterproof, and resist ingress of dust, dirt and humidity. The housings are formed from die cast aluminum and the optics are high transmission PMMA with 98% light transmittance. The Cree® LEDs help these units achieve resistance to vibrations and are rated at 70% lumen maintenance after 80,0000 hours of use. We use these LED lights for applications where a lot of vibration, dust, dirt, dampness and abusive working conditions are encountered.
The towers and assembly is powder coated with glossy blue finish for corrosion resistances and aesthetics. The mast and controls are secured within a cube-style frame constructed of 2" by 2" by 1/8" thick and measuring 48" wide by 48" long by 53" tall. Four 4` slide out outriggers with 1,200 lbs manual crank leveling jacks allow operators to anchor the unit down, providing stability during deployment. Four skid pockets allow this unit to be picked up from all four sides, and four-corner pick eyelets allow for stable deployment via crane operation.
Mast Head: The SHT-LM-SMDE-30-8-5S-4X400LTL-LED-SMH-UD-EW-RD-E2E features a unique square mast head design. This square mast head design allows operators to position the lights in the vertical position, for upwards or downwards illumination. With the T-style mast head equipped on our standard light masts, the bottom light heads will block the light output of the top light heads when aimed straight downwards, and the top light heads will block the light output of the bottom light heads when aimed straight upwards. With the square mast head, the light heads are positioned in a square, so each light head can be aimed upwards or downwards without interfering with the other light head.

The LM family of telescoping towers feature a proprietary mast guidance system, which provide increased stability during high winds. This light plant system can withstand winds up to 125+ mph when lowered to 8', and up to 55 mph when fully extended. When elevated to its full upright position, the mast can be rotated a full 360°. By loosening the T-Handle, operators can rotate the mast with easy in either direction. The mast can be positioned in one of four different directions, and locked back in place by re-tightening the T-handle. The mast itself spins freely with easy, and can typically be rotated with a single hand.
The mast is operated via centrally located control box with power switches within the cube frame, allowing operators to power the LED light fixtures on or off. Wiring is provided via 150' 10/4 SOOW cable terminated in a 30 amp L14-30P twist lock plug. A manual roll up drum mounted within the steel cage frame provides storage for the power cable. A waterproof L14-30C twist lock connector allows up to three units be daisy chained together on 120V circuit or up to three units on a 240 V circuit. All electrical components are UL/cUL listed.
Larson Electronics can custom tailor these units to the customer’s requirements with longer sections and larger mounting plates. For example, the LM-25 is another model that reaches to a length of 25 feet, with a 15 foot lower section and a 10 foot upper section and a 4 foot wide upper mounting bracket. We also offer a choice of either the manual 1,000 lb hand winches included standard or optional electric winches.
Suggested Applications: Temporary lighting, construction sites, and security camera deployment. We can equip this mast with 1000W or 1500W Metal Halide lights or a wide variety of high powered LED lights with comparable power, including the , , or .

Return & Refund Policy
For All non-Larson Products If you are not satisfied with a product, contact us by emailing or call 1-844-787-LITE within 30 days of receipt. A refund may be arranged excluding freight charges upon inspection. Returned merchandise must be shipped in original packaging, freight prepaid, unused, and in resalable condition, and are subject to 25% restocking fee. PuriLite inspects all returns and reserves the right to refuse credits on damaged, used or non-resalable items. Your only obligation is the freight charge and restocking fee, provided your return is complete with original packaging, all documentation, warranty cards, cables etc. PuriLite reserves the right to authorize product returns after 30 days have passed from the order date. If the product is accepted after this period, it is subject to a 25% restocking fee and credit will be issued toward future purchases only.
Shipping and handling charges are non-refundable for all returns. The customer may also be responsible for return shipping charges, insurance and shipment tracking for returned merchandise.
Once you place an order, the following products are non-returnable: custom-cut, customer built or special order items (such as matting, slings, cranes, prefab offices, buildings, mezzanines, assembled lockers and regularly stocked items such as generators, pressure washers, water and trash pumps, snow throwers, radio headsets, striping paint, line stripers, floor care machines, vacuums, custom fabric chairs, forklifts) your order is considered non-cancellable and any custom-cut, customer built or special order items purchased by you are also non-returnable. Consumable style bulbs or lamps are not returnable. There are no returns on any medical and/or sanitizing products for obvious safety reasons. This includes PPE (including masks), tests, thermometers, sprayers and UVC lighting of any kind (portable and surface).
Leased and hazardous items are also non-returnable. Contact customer service for a complete list of applicable products.
Larson product return policy Every order is tested prior to shipping. The product is tested before it is put into the shipping box, crate, pallet, etc. Larson take pictures and videos of every product for every order being shipped, and store these pictures and videos with the order number in our system. Because of the complexity of some of our products, we have a very limited return policy.
For safety reasons, we do not accept returns on any hazardous location, explosion proof or intrinsically safe products. Once these products leave the factory, we cannot be sure what happens to them. We must re-build and re-certify the units to specification to ensure that the next customer receives an item that is safe to use. This is cost prohibitive. For that reason, we do not accept returns on classified products. We do not accept returns on transformers, phase converters, or frequency converters. In order to install one of the aforementioned products, typically customers will modify the product (i.e. penetrate the housing to make connections, punch out knockouts, remove or damage tinning on lead wires during installation). Because we video test every unit before it ships to ensure the unit operates as described, we know when they leave here the units are operationally functional and meet the output voltage when supplied with the input voltage per the product specification. To be clear, we do not accept returns on these items under any circumstances for these reasons.
Products that are not addressed in the above two conditions must be returned in new, unused condition.
Below are some additional considerations:
Electrical/electronic parts are easily damaged by improper installation or testing. Because electronics are very sensitive to voltage overloads, it does not take much of a voltage spike to ruin a component. Because of this risk, all electrical products returned will undergo electrical testing and assessed a testing fee. This fee will be subtracted from the final return value.
Consumable style bulbs or lamps are not returnable.
Products that contain emergency backup components are subject to very narrow warranty terms and do not qualify for return. For customer convenience, we engage the battery pack prior to shipping all emergency backup products. Many times, particularly with hazardous location rated products, the battery packs are difficult to access and the customer generally plans to install the units shortly after receipt of the shipment. Battery backup components using older technologies (Nicad, NIMH, SLA, etc) will fail quickly if they do not maintain valid grid tie support. In other words, the batteries must receive a consistent maintained charge to perpetuate long lifespans. Battery backup products that are shelved (not installed) for periods greater than 3 weeks will likely fail and need replacement sooner. This replacement will not be covered under warranty. This can also occur is the units are installed but the grid tie option is not connected correctly. Customers can specify that they do not want the battery pack to be engaged at the time of ordering if they plan to shelve the units for long periods of time prior to installation.
There are many products on the site and not all pictures depict the exact configuration of each product. Many products are custom built and/or built on demand. In some cases, products are designed and not sold immediately and rendering may be used. In all cases, the end product is built to the specification listed and the pictures shown may be close approximations. Pictures are more likely to be close approximations with more complex products, including transformers, power distribution systems, control systems, light tower systems and other highly customizable products. In no way does the approximation validate a potential return. We always build to the specification. If customers have questions, they should ask prior to purchase to clarify.
There are no returns on any medical and/or sanitizing products for obvious safety reasons. This includes PPE (including masks), tests, thermometers, sprayers and UVC lighting of any kind (portable and surface)
Many international orders, specialty orders and other complex build orders require prepayment in advance. This prepayment represents a commitment to the order. Cancelling the order will result in a deduction from the original amount paid if any refund is available, since an investment of time and money is typically required to acquire materials and prepare the order. While not all orders in this category require prepayment, cancellation fees may apply to other build orders as well. The percentage of the deduction is at Larson’s discretion but usually ranges from 30 to 50%.
