The Larson Electronics TAPTH-20FT-GL3321-NYC-BPSD-1247 Trailer Hitch Mount Thermal Imaging Camera Tower consists of a thermal imaging camera mounted atop a four-stage aluminum pole that extends from 7 feet to 20 feet. The heavy-duty aluminum pole mount provides quick deployment of the thermal imaging camera to a height of 20` for maximum area coverage. A 6" LCD screen provided with the camera is mounted in a hard case along with the wireless remotes. The hard case features a built-in battery for independent operation along with the ability to plug into 12/24V DC power for extended deployment. As a whole, this unit can fit into the bed of a pickup truck for storage and transportation to new operating locations or job sites. This remote control thermal imaging system is an ideal solution for security, border patrol, SWAT and tactical crews, and military operations.
This trailer hitch mount thermal imaging tower contains one thermal imaging camera that can detect heat differentials between 32° and 240° and features remote control operation. The four-stage aluminum pole can extend up to 20` and collapses down to 7` for storage, lower elevation of camera operation and transportation.
The cable system on this security camera tower is weather, UV resistant and self-coiling. Three velcro-mount remotes are used to operate the security system: one dash, one handheld for light controls and a screen remote. To prevent detection during covert operations, a red LED light for blackout mode may be used. All of the monitoring components inside the weatherproof hard case are battery powered, including the screen (comes with a real-time battery percentage gauge). The battery cover may be pulled and disengaged to charge/swap batteries in the field.
Thermal Camera:
The
Golight Helios Remote Control Thermal Imaging Camera
attached to the pole allows operators to visualize thermal fluctuations in a variety of different applications, as well as allowing operators to "see" through fog, smoke and other similar environmental obstructions. This remote controlled thermal imaging camera has a detection range of 1500` and comes with a 6" LCD screen with a flexible neck that can be mounted on a dashboard or window with a suction cup mount or onto a variety of other compatible surfaces. The light head on this component is removable for streamlined storage.
The thermal imaging camera on the TAPTH-20FT-GL3321-NYC-BPSD-1247 has a field of view that measures 24° H x 19° V with a rotational tilt of 370° x 135°. During operation, heat is displayed on the screen as white and cooler temperatures appear black. The remote controlled, pan/tilt thermal imaging camera is also equipped with an internal core heater that prevents the lens of the camera from icing up. Due to its high resolution features, this thermal imaging unit can display images up to 1500` in any direction it is directed to, including through fog, smoke and precipitation. The thermal camera is UV resistant, saltwater resistant and weatherproof for both land and sea applications.
Camera Screen/Monitor:
The thermal imaging camera that comes with the TAPTH-20FT-GL3321-NYC-BPSD-1247 includes a 6" LCD screen/monitor to remotely view thermal images captured by the camera. The screen is hardwired to the camera and is mounted inside a Pelican-style hard case for protection, use, storage and transportation. The LCD screen is dimmable and can run continuously for 3+ hours from a rechargeable battery included inside the hard case. Alternatively, it may also be plugged directly into a 12/24V DC power source for extended use. The battery can be recharged via a 12V or 120V charger. A clear plastic cover over the screen inside the hard case provides further protection while the unit is in use. To ensure clarity during daytime operation, a sun-screening component is available, which also limits upward visibility during nighttime operations.
Tower and Case:
The trailer hitch mount and thermal camera tower are constructed of heavy-duty powder coated aluminum. This unit seamlessly attaches to a standard size trailer hitch and raises to 20` without the need for any tools. The hard case that holds the LCD monitor, rechargeable battery and remote controls is a heavy-duty, waterproof Condition 1 case that can stand up to rough conditions and treatment. The hard case acts as a base for camera operations and storage for the thermal camera monitor, battery, remote controls and camera. The case includes handles and solid no-slip wheels, which lets the operator tilt the unit back and roll/transport the screen, battery and remotes to a new location while fully deployed.
The hard case has several other useful features in addition to providing protection and serving as a base of operation. A cut-out area within the case provides covered storage for the thermal imaging camera when it is not in use. A small, red LED light inside the case allows operators to proactively see the controls, screen and camera while setting up the unit in the dark or for blackout operations. Three switches are mounted inside the case for simple operation. One switch operates the battery testing unit, another switch powers on the case-mounted red LED light and the other switch turns on the camera and the LCD screen.
Camera Control:
A hardwired dashboard-mounted joystick controls up, down, left and right movements of the motorized thermal imaging camera. Pan and tilt functions of the camera continues while the joystick is depressed. When the operator releases the button, the camera stops and holds the position. An on/off button is included on the controller. Fast and slow buttons (turtle/hare) control speeds of the motor during pan and tilt functions (12 seconds for a full 370-degree rotation and eight seconds for full tilt on fast mode). Slow mode is used to pinpoint accuracy at a distance, which takes approximately 35 seconds for full rotation and 20 seconds for one full range tilt.
Durability:
The TAPTH-20FT-GL3321-NYC-BPSD-1247 trailer hitch mount, pole, and thermal camera are designed with superior durability. The camera enclosure is hermetically sealed and pressurized for weather and water resistance. The aluminum pole is lightweight without compromising strength to support the camera and the trailer hitch mount is built from powder-coated aluminum for strength and flawless deployment even in difficult conditions.
Mounting:
The TAPTH-20FT-GL3321-NYC-BPSD-1247 offers a straightforward process for operators to deploy in the field. Upon arrival at the target location, the operator attaches the trailer hitch mount to the desired hitch. The hitch section can be adjusted using a T-handle for trucks and vehicles of different heights. Once it is firmly attached to the hitch mount, the collapsed aluminum pole is placed into the vertical structure of the trailer hitch mount and secured by tightening the T-handle. The operator then places the mounting plate with the attached camera to the top of the 20` aluminum pole. Extension of the pole to maximum heights is also a simple process that doesn`t require any tools. The operator twists each stage of the pole to loosen the locking mechanism and uses a hand-over-hand motion to fully extend each stage before locking it into position. Lowering the pole uses the same procedure (in reverse).
Power:
This trailer hitch mount thermal imaging camera tower runs on 12V DC power while drawing 4.5 amps and 2 watts (8 with the camera heater on).
Applications:
The TAPTH-20FT-GL3321-NYC-BPSD-1247 is suitable for border patrol operations, security monitoring, law enforcement operations, military surveilance, covert operations and more. This unit may also be used to monitor outdoor events, large crowds, gatherings, chemical plants, food processing facilities, wastewater establishments, government sites, construction projects, remote operations, emergency camps and other large or industrial properties.
