Made in the USA The Larson Electronics EPL-TN-CRN-RED Low Voltage Explosion Proof Red Crane LED Warning Spotlight is approved Class I & II, Division 1 & 2 and is rated for use in wet and marine environments. This red LED spotlight is designed to warn pedestrians and bystanders when in the path of an oncoming crane. This explosion proof LED light produces an 2,250 lumen output with low amp draw, 50,000 hour service life, and 9 to 60 volt compatibility providing operators with a versatile and powerful crane warning safety light. The EPL-TN-CRN-RED Red LED Crane Safety Light from Larson Electronics produces 2250 lumen of sharp red light while drawing 2.09 amps from a 12 volt electrical system five 5-watt red LED producing 450 lumens each are combined with high output parabolic reflector to produce a narrow 5° degree spread spot beam, providing a high intensity center beam which is visible during daytime and nighttime operations. The LED lamp runs cooler than halogen lamps, resulting in an easier and safer to handle unit and less heat in the workspace. Standard crane warning systems consist of strobe lights or audible alarms. Strobe lights may not always be visible with high illumination settings. The strobe lights on cranes, depending on the position of the light, can be a hindrance to the crane operator by reducing the visibility due to continual contrasting from the strobe light. Audible alarms, such as backup alarms, are the most disliked warning system for cranes, especially operators and pedestrians within work forces that have to listen to this alarm continually throughout the work day. Both strobe lights and audible alarms are often ignored due to conditioning of the warning system from day to day exposure. The EPL-TN-CRN-RED addresses both the above issues, providing a new system that is not obnoxious and will not get on the nerves of employees, while providing the warning indication required by OSHA to keep employees and pedestrians within the work force safe.
LED Benefits: Unlike gas burning and arc type lamps that have glass bulbs, LEDs have no filaments or fragile housings to break during operation and/or transportation. Instead of heating a small filament or using a combination of gases to produce light, light emitting diodes (LEDs) use semi-conductive materials that illuminate when electric current is applied, providing instant illumination with no warm up or cool down time before re-striking. Because there is no warm up period, this light can be cycled on and off with no reduction in lamp life. LED lights run at significantly cooler temperatures than traditional metal halide and high pressure sodium lights and contain no harmful gases, vapors, or mercury, making them both safer and more energy efficient. No extra energy is wasted in cooling enclosed work areas due to external heat emissions from bulb type lights, and the operator risks associated with traditional lighting methods, such as accidental burns and exposure to hazardous substances contained in the glass bulbs, are eliminated. In addition, LEDs are also safer for the environment as they are 100% recyclable, which eliminates the need for costly special disposal services required with traditional gas burning and arc type lamps. This lamp can be easily adjusted up or down and locked into position via a side mounted adjustment knob. The lamp housing is waterproof and constructed of thick copper free aluminum alloy, making it ideal for use in wet and marine environments. The EPL-TN-CRN-RED lamp assembly includes a 25 watt LED lamp with red LEDs in a copper-free cast aluminum housing with a thermoset powder coat finish. The shell, covers and sealed fittings are also made of copper-free aluminum. The lens is constructed of thermal shock and impact resistant tempered glass and the housing contains threaded joints lubricated with non-drying lubricant. The LED lamp in this unit has no filament and is thus highly resistant to damage from shocks or impacts, greatly reducing the chances of damage should the be dropped or hit, unlike incandescent lamps which may break or shatter. Durability: This unit incorporates a 25 watt LED lamp assembly containing five 5-watt high output red LEDs producing 450 lumens each and a copper-free cast aluminum housing with a thermoset powder coat finish. The shell, covers and sealed fittings are also made of copper-free aluminum. The lens is constructed of 3/4" thermal shock and impact resistant tempered glass and the housing contains threaded joints lubricated with non-drying lubricant. The LED lamp assembly has no filament and is thus highly resistant to damage from shocks or impacts, greatly reducing the chances of damage should the lamp be dropped or hit, unlike incandescent lamps which may break or shatter. The lamp is rated at 50,000+ hours of life, providing longer service life than typical halogen lamps. The EPL-TN-CRN-RED operates on a range of voltages from 9-60 volts DC to provide a lighting solution for areas where explosion proof fixtures are required. Heat Management: Heat is the single largest factor in premature LED failure and color shifting. These LED units contain advanced drivers which use pulse width modulation to control heat buildup rather than simple voltage regulators which are typically harsh on sensitive electronics and can contribute to early LED failure. These units automatically sense the temperature of each LED and adjust the energy frequency or "duty cycle" accordingly to maintain heat levels within acceptable ranges. This system in essence flashes current at an extremely fast on and off rate to each LED based upon the LED`s core temperature. This flash rate is too fast to detect with the human eye, but provides precise control of the current flowing to each LED and thus the heat it generates. This allows the LEDs to be driven at up to 100% capacity without overheating or visible loss of light output. The LEDs are always driven at the same voltage but the duty cycle, however, is changed to alter how long the LEDs are actually on or off. The end result is more light with less heat and longer LED life with an average 70% lumen maintenance after 50,000 hours.
