' Product Overview '
The Larson Electronics EXPLED-SOL12-EXPSG-LE1-30C Explosion Proof Solar Powered Sight Glass Mount LED Light is an ideal lighting solution for remote areas and standalone applications where connection to external power is either impractical or unavailable. This solid-state light offers 1,320 lumens of illumination with a 6000K color temperature rating. Equipped with a 30-watt solar panel, this unit contains a 30' 12/2 SOOW cord between the LED light and panel. The panel must be installed outside of the hazardous location area. The EXPLED-SOL12-EXPSG-LE1-30C produces 1,320 lumens of high-intensity LED light for illumination within hazardous areas and potentially explosive work environments. The solar-powered LED light is available in two lighting configurations: spot or flood. The spot configuration features a 10° beam that measures 800`L and 140`W. The flood configuration throws a 40° beam that measures 300`L and 225`W. The 30-watt solar panel can be equipped with either a dusk to dawn day/night sensor, a motion sensor, an on/off switch or configured to run 24/7. The day/night sensor is programmed to activate the solar panel in the evening and to shut it off during the day. The motion sensor will activate the panel upon detecting motion. The on/off switch will activate and shut off the solar panel according to the operator`s preferences.  LED Benefits: Unlike gas burning and arc type lamps that have glass bulbs, LEDs have no filaments or fragile housings to break during operation and/or transportation. Instead of heating a small filament or using a combination of gases to produce light, light emitting diodes (LEDs) use semi-conductive materials that illuminate when electric current is applied, providing instant illumination with no warm up or cool down time before re-striking. Because there is no warm up period, this light can be cycled on and off with no reduction in lamp life. LED lights run at significantly cooler temperatures than traditional metal halide and high pressure sodium lights and contain no harmful gases, vapors, or mercury, making them both safer and more energy efficient. No extra energy is wasted in cooling enclosed work areas due to external heat emissions from bulb type lights, and the operator risks associated with traditional lighting methods, such as accidental burns and exposure to hazardous substances contained in the glass bulbs, are eliminated. In addition, LEDs are also safer for the environment as they are 100% recyclable, which eliminates the need for costly special disposal services required with traditional gas burning and arc type lamps. Durability: The explosion proof LED light from Larson Electronics is rated NEMA Type 3, 4, 4X and designed to withstand the rigors of demanding environmental and operating conditions while remaining lightweight and easy to use. These units are waterproof to 3 meter and resist ingress of dust, dirt and humidity. The housings are formed from aluminum and the lenses are thick tempered glass. The LEDs offer inherent LED resistance to shocks and vibrations.

Solar Panel/Battery: The light runs for 12 hours when the battery is fully charged. Charging time for the single 10aH lithium-ion battery is 5 hours when exposed to direct sunlight. Indirect sunlight will extend the charge time. As with all solar powered equipment, charging time is affected by the amount of available ambient light. When ambient light levels drop below a certain level, such as on cloudy days, the unit will not recharge as quickly. The battery pack is contained within the solar panel, not the light. Wiring: The fixture ships with 30 feet of 12/2 SOOW cable between the solar panel and explosion proof light. Custom lengths are available upon request. Please contact us for special requirements. Mounting: Equipped with adjustable legs at both sides of the unit, the LED light is compatible with several mounting requirements and configurations. For sight glass/surface mounting, the device can be attached directly using a nut, flanged adapter collar or hinged bracket. Bracket components allow robust, angled positioning of the light head. The ATEX rated fixture supports compatibility with circular sight glass fittings (DIN 28120, DIN 28121), weld-neck type MV sight glass fittings, ANSI flange types and visual flow indicators. For the solar panel, flat surface or round/square pole mounting, such as on utility poles or similar structures, is possible. The panel must be installed outside of the hazardous locations area. NOTE:  Larson Electronics has further upgraded the options available with this light. We expect the light to be mounted separately from the panel. This means the solar panel can be mounted in direct sunlight (not in the hazardous area) while the light is mounted in a hazardous area workspace. Standard installation for explosion proof lighting, including threaded rigid pipe to the LED light fixture and appropriate seal-offs, etc. are required.
