The Larson Electronics AVL-SOL-ICAO-TA Self-contained, Solar-powered ICAO Type A Aviation LED Strobe Light is a powerful and reliable signaling solution for aviation. This 1.8-watt light provides >10 cd intensity with a strobing rate of 60 flashes per minute. Powered by a maintenance-free NiMH battery, the unit is compatible with G3/4" threaded pipe installations. The AVL-SOL-ICAO-TA offers powerful signaling in outdoor and industrial locations. This 1.8-watt solar-powered unit strobes at a rate of 60 flashes per minute with >10 cd intensity. Light output has a 360° horizontal divergence and >10° vertical divergence. Options for light colors include: red, amber, green, blue or white. This ICAO (Aerodromes Annex 14) low intensity type-A light is protected by a polycarbonate housing and features an aluminum base. Suitable for outdoor locations, the unit is UV and corrosion resistant. The EMC compliant device is shockproof and does not not impose RF-radiation. A bird spike at the top of the light prevents birds from obstructing the unit. This IP65 rated light can be used in environments with -30℃ ~ +70℃ ambient temperatures. LED Benefits: Unlike gas burning and arc type lamps that have glass bulbs, LEDs have no filaments or fragile housings to break during operation and/or transportation. Instead of heating a small filament or using a combination of gases to produce light, light emitting diodes (LEDs) use semi-conductive materials that illuminate when electric current is applied, providing instant illumination with no warm up or cool down time before re-striking. Because there is no warm up period, this light can be cycled on and off with no reduction in lamp life. LED lights run at significantly cooler temperatures than traditional metal halide and high pressure sodium lights and contain no harmful gases, vapors, or mercury, making them both safer and more energy efficient. No extra energy is wasted in cooling enclosed work areas due to external heat emissions from bulb type lights, and the operator risks associated with traditional lighting methods, such as accidental burns and exposure to hazardous substances contained in the glass bulbs, are eliminated. In addition, LEDs are also safer for the environment as they are 100% recyclable, which eliminates the need for costly special disposal services required with traditional gas burning and arc type lamps. Battery: This LED strobe light is powered by a built-in 3.6V/8aH maintenance-free NiMH battery. The battery is protected by a dormancy switch. In rainy conditions, the battery offers 20 days of continuous operation. If the unit does not light up in low-light conditions during the first operation, the light should be placed under direct sunlight for 12 hours. Every 40 days, the LED strobe light should be placed under direct sunlight for three days to ensure optimal battery capacity. After 450 cycles, the capacity of the NiMH battery is reduced to 80% and should be replaced. Mounting: The AVL-SOL-ICAO-TA is compatible with mounting on G3/4" threaded pipes. The threaded pipe can be secured to a surface, bracket, base or wall. A steel wire connects to the base to prevent the housing from falling during use.
