The DCP-12-42V from Larson Electronics is a Waterproof Power Supply that converts commonly used 120-277V AC electrical current to 42V DC @ 4.4 Amps. This converter is designed to be hardwired into home, boat or vehicle electrical supplies where the voltage is typically within the 120-277V AC range and reduces it to 42V DC, allowing users to use standard AC power to operate equipment like our LED light bars and HID Golights that require 42 Volt DC current. The DCP-12-42V 185 watt max (148 watt continuous) power converter provides a safe and effective way for users to tap into and utilize common 120 to 277 Volt AC power sources and convert this current to 42 Volts DC at 4.4 amps for use with equipment that requires 42V DC electrical power. This unit can be operated with input current ranging from 120 to 277V AC and will output 185 watts max (148 watts continuous) at 4.4 amps on a 42 Volt DC current. This power converter features an IP67 rated waterproof design, making it suitable for indoor or outdoor use and includes integral short circuit and overload protection that will shut down the unit in case of faults and overloads to protect the unit and connected equipment from damage.
The small size and wide input voltage range of this unit make it ideal for operating Larson Electronics LED light bars, Golights and other equipment that requires 42V DC current indoors or outdoors and anywhere 42 volt DC power is not readily available. Measuring 8.7 inches long by 2.5 inches wide by 1.5 inches deep, this unit weighs less than one pound and is mounted with two conventional screws via slots that allow removal and repositioning simply by loosening the screws. This converter comes with clearly labeled input and output leads that are approximately 1 foot long and stripped and tinned for hardwired connections using butt splice connectors, wire screws, plates, etc. The DCP-12-42V 185 watt max (148 watt continuous) converter features full range, universal AC input capability and can be operated with 120 to 277V AC. The unit converts this AC power input to 185 watts max or 148 watts continuous, 4.4 Amp 42V DC. IP67 rated, this unit is waterproof and suitable for indoor or outdoor applications. Integrally designed protection includes overload, short circuit and over voltage safeguards to prevent overheating and unit damage in case of faults or overly heavy current draw. This unit will shut down when an over current or over voltage condition is encountered and recovers when manually turned back on. This power converter has a -30°C / +70°C operating temperature range and is UL UL1012 and UL60950-1 compliant as well as compliant with worldwide safety regulations for lighting. This unit has a 92% conversion efficiency and is suitable for use with moving LED signs and similar LED equipment. NOTE: In order to obtain the best performance and the longest operational life from these units, it is recommended that you do not exceed 75% of the unit’s output amperage. To determine if this converter suits your desired application, add together the total wattage of the equipment you intend to use with this unit and divide this total by 42 volts to find the total amperage draw that will be placed upon the converter. For example, if you are using our LEDP10W-60E 60 watt LED light, 60 watts divided by 42 volts is 1.43 amps. This would mean the DCP-12-42V is well suited as it would run at slightly more than 30% capacity to produce the necessary 1.43 amps. Running these units at 100% of their capacity can create excess heat and lead to shortened converter life.
