' Product Overview '
Made in the USA The Larson Electronics HAL-EMG-EXT-3L-10W-6V explosion proof LED emergency exit sign w/ halogen bug eyes features reliable illumination and notification in Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations. This unit supports 120-277V AC input voltages (29W max) and 6V DC output (12W max). The bug eye lamps are equipped with MR16 halogen bulbs. In the event of power outage, this unit will continue to function for 90 minutes via a sealed, maintenance-free nickel cadmium battery. A self-testing mechanism automates monitoring of critical functions within the unit. This hazardous area LED emergency exit sign is suitable for Class I, Division 2 rated facilities. During operation, the unit features 120-227V AC input voltages (6V DC output for the lamp). The unit consumes 10 watts (max 29W), while the lamp consumes 6 watts (max 12W). Should power outage occur, the unit may revert to a nickel cadmium battery for power, which offers a runtime of 90 minutes. A low voltage battery disconnect built into the device preserves the solid-state battery and charger. This unit is constructed of cast aluminum with a sturdy polycarbonate cover and stainless steel, tamper-resistant screws. Advanced Diagnostic circuitry is available in the HAL-EMG-EXT-3L-10W-6V. This circuitry is programmed to ensure the combination unit’s readiness and reliability by continuously monitoring every critical function of the unit. If a problem occurs, a single “Service Required” indicator illuminates immediately. A detailed diagnostic display that will further indicate the nature of the fault is located on the inside of the exit sign, out of sight from the general public. The self test will test the unit for a minimum of 30 seconds every 30 days, 30 minutes every 60 days and 90 minutes annually. LED Benefits: Unlike gas burning and arc type lamps that have glass bulbs, LEDs have no filaments or fragile housings to break during operation and/or transportation. Instead of heating a small filament or using a combination of gases to produce light, light emitting diodes (LEDs) use semi-conductive materials that illuminate when electric current is applied, providing instant illumination with no warm up or cool down time before re-striking. Because there is no warm up period, this light can be cycled on and off with no reduction in lamp life. LED lights run at significantly cooler temperatures than traditional metal halide and high pressure sodium lights and contain no harmful gases, vapors, or mercury, making them both safer and more energy efficient. No extra energy is wasted in cooling enclosed work areas due to external heat emissions from bulb type lights, and the operator risks associated with traditional lighting methods, such as accidental burns and exposure to hazardous substances contained in the glass bulbs, are eliminated. In addition, LEDs are also safer for the environment as they are 100% recyclable, which eliminates the need for costly special disposal services required with traditional gas burning and arc type lamps. Mount: This unit is designed for wall mounts via a 1/2” electrical conduit entry on both sides and at the top. Applications: Manufacturing plants, chemical plants, paint shops, oil refineries, gas stations, industrial facilities, warehouses, processing plants and other Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations.
