The Larson Electronics LM-SMDE-25-6X1000W-MH-35KW skid mount electric light plant provides a safe and effective way for operators to quickly deploy 6,000 watts of intense lighting to elevations up to twenty-five feet. The six 1000 watt metal halide lamps produce a wide spread of intense lighting, allowing this unit to effectively cover large work areas with high quality illumination. The light tower features a rotating boom that allows for 360° of rotation, a removable mast head for storing mounted equipment when not in use, and is mounted to a cube frame with skid pockets and 4-corner pick eyes for easy transportation.

The LM-SMDE-25-6X1000W-MH-35KW five stage telescoping steel light mast with manual winch from Larson Electronics is designed to quickly and safely deploy 6,000 watts of intense metal halide lighting in locations where elevated illumination is needed for maximum area coverage. This light boom can be extended to 25` for maximum area coverage. The tower is constructed of square steel tubing and is elevated using a hand crank winch.
This unit contains a water cooled diesel engine powering a 35KVA generator, which supplies the current for the six 1,000 watt metal halide lights producing 100,000 lumens each, for a combined total of 600,000 lumens of light. This unit can run uninterrupted for up to 27 hours straight without refueling and includes a telescoping light mast which can elevate the six metal halide lamps to a height of 25`.
These metal halide lamps have very good color temperature and color rendering which allows them to produce clean, bright white light. The High Intensity Discharge (HID) metal halide lights are highly efficient and offer around 15,000 hours of bulb life expectancy. These metal halide lamps also offer IP66 rated construction that is designed to withstand extremes of environmental and operating conditions. Protected within corrosion resistant die cast aluminum housings, these lights can withstand rapid temperature changes of -40° Celsius to +80° Celsius, are waterproof, and are dust tight.
Genset: The LM-SMDE-25-6X1000W-MH-35KW mobile light tower includes a genset that houses a turbocharged diesel engine that powers the 35KVA 220/400V 50Hz generator. This genset is liquid cooled and features a single phase generator with electric start ignition. A digital control panel provides fault diagnostics of the generator. A 35 gallon fuel cell is equipped with an electric fuel delivery system. This genset features key operated electric starting, a twelve volt electrical system, liquid cooling, replaceable dry element air cleaner, and a full enclosure for safe operation and protection against the elements. This engine also features cold weather glow plugs to improve performance under cold weather conditions. The LM-SMDE-25-6X1000W-MH-35KW also has a 12V maintenance free sealed lead-acid starter battery.
Lights: Included with this light tower are six of our wet area suitable metal halide fixtures producing a combined total of approximately 600,000 lumens at 6,000 watts. These lamps have 19" reflectors and are constructed of aluminum with a clear tempered glass lens which is secured into place with a heavy duty gasket and single ring lock. These floodlights produce a wide flood light pattern capable of illuminating approximately 2.5 acres. Each floodlight is securely fastened to the light boom and each lamp includes a support bracket to help maintain lamp stability within its housing. The lamps are connected to the power source via a water tight male pin connector that attaches to a receptacle located on the end of the telescoping boom.
Light Mast: The LM family of telescoping towers feature a proprietary mast guidance system, which provides increased stability during high winds. The light mast can be rotated a full 360°. By loosening the set bolts, operators can rotate the mast with ease in either direction. The mast itself spins freely, and can typically be rotated with a single hand. Once the desired position has been selected, operators re-tighten the set bolts, securing the light mast in position.
Mount: The light tower and genset enclosure are galvanized for corrosion resistances and to reduce chances of sparking. The light mast is bolted onto a 1/8" thick carbon steel base plate via six 9/16" stainless steel anchor bolts. The mast and genset are secured within a cube-style frame constructed of 2" by 2" by 1/8" thick and measuring 92" long by 40" wide by 95" tall. Four skid pockets allow this unit to be picked up from the sides, and four-corner pick eyelets allow for stable deployment via crane operation. Four 1000lb fold-out outriggers with manual leveling jacks provide stability during deployment. A 50" wide and 2" by 2" by 1/4" thick mounting plate is attached to the upper section of the mast which provides a strong and stable platform for the six metal halide fixtures.
The LM family of telescoping towers feature a proprietary mast guidance system, which provide increased stability during high winds. This light plant system can withstand winds up to 125+ mph when lowered and up to 55 mph when fully extended. When elevated to its full upright position, the mast can be rotated a full 360°. By loosening the T-Handle, operators can rotate the mast with easy in either direction. The mast can be positioned in one of four different directions, and locked back in place by re-tightening the T-handle. The mast itself spins freely with easy, and can typically be rotated with a single hand.
Protection: All electrical devices and light fixtures are Class I, Division 1 rated and wired in accordance to NEC NFPA 70.
Larson Electronics can custom tailor these units to the customer`s requirements with longer sections and larger mounting plates. For example, the LM-25 is another model that reaches to a length of 25 feet, with a 15 foot lower section and a 10 foot upper section and a 4 foot wide upper mounting bracket. We also offer a choice of either the manual 1,000 lbs hand winches included standard or optional electric winches.
