The Larson Electronics MGS-3X440V.30A-15KVA-6X120.20A power distribution substation converts 440V AC electrical current into 120V AC single phase. This unit provides operators the ability to safely tap into and distribute 440V AC power from a variety of sources including generators and direct grid power.
The MGS-3X440V.30A-15KVA-6X120.20A portable power distribution system gives operators the ability to power their 480 volt and 120 volt equipment from a single system. On the primary side, operators connect 440 volt line-in power via 100` of 2/4 SOOW cord to three L16-30R, 480V receptacles for 480V equipment. On the secondary side, operators connect to six GFCI duplex 120V receptacles for 120V equipment.
Operation:
A 100` 2/4 SOOW line-in cord brings 440V power to the NEMA 3R 125-amp, 480V primary panel, which contains one 40-amp breaker protecting the 30 KVA transformer, and three 30-amp, 480V breakers protecting three 30-amp, L16-30R, 480V receptacles, and passes 440V through to the transformer. The NEMA 3R 15 KVA transformer converts 440V power to 120V single phase and passes the current to the secondary panel. The secondary side of the transformer feeds a NEMA 3R 125-amp, 120V main lug only panel. This secondary panel contains six 20-amp, 125V breakers protecting six 20-amp, 120V GFCI duplex receptacles. All receptacles are equipped with weatherproof covers.
The transformer and distribution assembly is mounted onto a rugged carbon steel frame with integrated casters to allow easy transport. The standard frame constrution is 1/4" thick, 2" square tubing frame. This can be replaced for an additional cost with stainless steel, hot dip galvanized steel, or aluminum depending on the customers needs. This power distribution system is designed for outdoor use and applications including but not limited to, plant maintenance, hazardous location operations, as a welding station, shows, exhibits, and marine applications.
Certification:
Larson Electronics is a UL 1640 panel shop and certified to build portable power distribution systems. All units are built in accordance to NFPA 70 (National Electric Code) and certified to UL 1640. All equipment is NEMA 3R rated for indoor and outdoor use and provide a degree of protection against dirt, water, and ice. NEMA 4 and NEMA 4X equipment can be equipped upon request.
Grounding:
Transformer is grounded to the frame and we provide a grounding lug on the frame for the earth ground.

This power distribution system is ideal for indoor or outdoor use and applications including but not limited to, construction sites, plant maintenance, plant turnarounds, shows, exhibits, and shipyard operations. These power distribution systems are popularly used in applications where external power sources are often necessary. We also offer class rated transformers for use within explosion proof and hazardous location environments.
