Light Head Information: The WCDE-4X500W-LED-MLK-AT from Larson Electronics is equipped with 4 LED Flood Lights. The GAU-LTL-500W-LED LED Flood Light offers intense light output and is ideal for flood lighting, high mast lighting, light towers, as well as industrial and outdoor lighting applications. Producing 64,800 lumens, a 4.25 amp draw at 120V, 80,000 hour service life, 120-277 volt compatibility, and IP67 waterproof rating, this LED flood light provides operators with a rugged and powerful LED alternative to 1500 watt metal halide lamps that uses little power and can withstand rugged use and abusive conditions.
The GAU-LTL-500W-LED LED light from Larson Electronics produces 64,800 lumens of high intensity light while drawing only 480 watts at 5 amps from a 120 volt electrical system. Forty-Eight CREE® high output LEDs producing 1350 lumens each are arranged in rows and paired with PMMA high purity optics to produce a well focused 24° wide spot beam that is ideal for providing far reaching concentrated illumination while still covering a substantial amount of area. We also offer optional optics with 10° spot, 38° narrow flood, 60° flood, and 90° wide flood beam spreads. The spot beams are tightly focused and are designed for high elevation mounting to achieve distance, making spot versions ideal for high mast and spots lighting. The flood beams are designed to provide more light over a larger area nearer the fixture, making flood versions ideal for use as dedicated work and area lights.
GAU-LTL-500W-LED lights are ideal replacements for fragile and hot running 1500 watt metal halide lamps. They offer low power requirements, high durability and a versatile mounting system that makes these LED light emitters a superior lighting solution for demanding applications where power and reliability is critical. The heavy duty design and high power of these LED lights also makes them suitable for a wide array of applications including but not limited to: high mast lighting, light towers, light plant LED retrofits, military, mining, industrial manufacturing, machine visioning, security and law enforcement, commercial structure illumination, sport complexes, billboards, race tracks, and parking lots to name a few.
The above image shows the comparison of the traditional (4) 1500 watt metal halides light fixtures mounted to a 30` light tower (left) to (4) GAU-LTL-500W-LED 500 watt LED light fixtures mounted to a 30` light tower. The area being illuminated by each tower is 300` in length and 250` in width. Unlike the metal halide light fixtures, there are no hot spots with these LED fixtures. This high output LED light fixture provides an even beam spread over the targeted work area without overcast, glare, light spillage, and wasted illumination. Color rendering is also increased with LED light plants, providing a more realistic night vision that more closely resembles natural daylight illumination.
Light Head Heat Management: Heat is the single largest factor in premature LED failure and color shifting. These LED units feature individual heat sinks per bank of six LEDs to control heat buildup rather than utilizing a single housing to dissipate heat. This allows for more thorough cooling of the LEDs for extended operating periods. This allows the LEDs to be driven at up to 90% capacity without overheating or visible loss of light output. The end result is more light with less heat and longer LED life with an average 70% lumen maintenance after 80,000 hours.
Light Head Durability: As well as unparalleled heat control, the GAU-LTL-500W-LED series of LED lights from Larson Electronics also offer IP67 rated construction that is designed to withstand extremes of environmental and operating conditions. These units can withstand rapid temperature changes of -40° Celsius to +80° Celsius, are waterproof, and resist ingress of dust, dirt and humidity. The housings are formed from die cast aluminum and the optics are high transmission PMMA with 98% light transmittance. The CREE® LEDs help these units achieve resistance to vibrations and are rated at 70% lumen maintenance after 80,0000 hours of use. We recommend these LED lights for use in applications where a lot of vibration, dust, dirt, dampness and abusive working conditions are encountered.
LED Benefits: Unlike gas burning and arc type lamps that have glass bulbs, LEDs have no filaments or fragile housings to break during operation and/or transportation. Instead of heating a small filament or using a combination of gases to produce light, light emitting diodes (LEDs) use semi-conductive materials that illuminate when electric current is applied, providing instant illumination with no warm up or cool down time before re-striking. Because there is no warm up period, this light can be cycled on and off with no reduction in lamp life.
LED lights run at significantly cooler temperatures than traditional metal halide and high pressure sodium lights and contain no harmful gases, vapors, or mercury, making them both safer and more energy efficient. No extra energy is wasted in cooling enclosed work areas due to external heat emissions from bulb type lights, and the operator risks associated with traditional lighting methods, such as accidental burns and exposure to hazardous substances contained in the glass bulbs, are eliminated. In addition, LEDs are also safer for the environment as they are 100% recyclable, which eliminates the need for costly special disposal services required with traditional gas burning and arc type lamps.
Cree Specific: This lamp uses Cree LED units that have been chosen for their high lumen per watt ratio and extreme longevity. These Cree LEDs generate a robust 135 lumens per watt effective lumen output and have a 70% lumen retention at 80,000 hours, giving them better efficiency and operational life than traditional light sources.
Tower & Trailer: The telescoping hydraulic tower on this unit reaches 25.5` when fully extended and folds to a compact 4.5` for storage and transport. Hydraulic operation allows operators to easily raise, lower, or rotate the mast through a full 359° of movement as needed. A stepping pad allows operators to make adjustments from the ground with ease. The light heads are trunnion mounted to the mast crosspieces using U brackets and can be individually adjusted while the tower is in the retracted position.
Skid pockets allow the unit to be moved with a forklift
The trailer features a formed and welded steel frame, 13" tires and wheels, a 5-point stabilization system, and a fold-able tongue with a reversible ball coupling/pintle hitch. The 5-point base consists of four 4` sliding outriggers each with a drop leg jack (two at the rear and one on each flank) and a 1,000lb stabilizing jack connected to the tongue. Both the main stabilizing jack and the outrigger jacks can be manually adjusted to the desired position using hand cranks. This 5-point design allows the unit to be operational in winds up to 55 mph. The reversible hitch consists of of a standard 2" ball coupling on one end and a 3" pintle towing hitch on the other end. To switch ends, the operator simply unbolts the hitch attachment, flips it to the desired end, and reinserts the bolt. This trailer also features forklift pockets for easy lifting and loading/unloading of the unit.
With compact stowing dimensions of 6.76` x 4.6` x 4.5`, a 48` truck trailer can hold 18 of these light towers, and a 53` trailer can carry 20 units.

Larson product return policy Every order is tested prior to shipping. The product is tested before it is put into the shipping box, crate, pallet, etc. Larson take pictures and videos of every product for every order being shipped, and store these pictures and videos with the order number in our system. Because of the complexity of some of our products, we have a very limited return policy.
For safety reasons, we do not accept returns on any hazardous location, explosion proof or intrinsically safe products. Once these products leave the factory, we cannot be sure what happens to them. We must re-build and re-certify the units to specification to ensure that the next customer receives an item that is safe to use. This is cost prohibitive. For that reason, we do not accept returns on classified products. We do not accept returns on transformers, phase converters, or frequency converters. In order to install one of the aforementioned products, typically customers will modify the product (i.e. penetrate the housing to make connections, punch out knockouts, remove or damage tinning on lead wires during installation). Because we video test every unit before it ships to ensure the unit operates as described, we know when they leave here the units are operationally functional and meet the output voltage when supplied with the input voltage per the product specification. To be clear, we do not accept returns on these items under any circumstances for these reasons.
Products that are not addressed in the above two conditions must be returned in new, unused condition.
Below are some additional considerations:
Electrical/electronic parts are easily damaged by improper installation or testing. Because electronics are very sensitive to voltage overloads, it does not take much of a voltage spike to ruin a component. Because of this risk, all electrical products returned will undergo electrical testing and assessed a testing fee. This fee will be subtracted from the final return value.
Consumable style bulbs or lamps are not returnable.
Products that contain emergency backup components are subject to very narrow warranty terms and do not qualify for return. For customer convenience, we engage the battery pack prior to shipping all emergency backup products. Many times, particularly with hazardous location rated products, the battery packs are difficult to access and the customer generally plans to install the units shortly after receipt of the shipment. Battery backup components using older technologies (Nicad, NIMH, SLA, etc) will fail quickly if they do not maintain valid grid tie support. In other words, the batteries must receive a consistent maintained charge to perpetuate long lifespans. Battery backup products that are shelved (not installed) for periods greater than 3 weeks will likely fail and need replacement sooner. This replacement will not be covered under warranty. This can also occur is the units are installed but the grid tie option is not connected correctly. Customers can specify that they do not want the battery pack to be engaged at the time of ordering if they plan to shelve the units for long periods of time prior to installation.
There are many products on the site and not all pictures depict the exact configuration of each product. Many products are custom built and/or built on demand. In some cases, products are designed and not sold immediately and rendering may be used. In all cases, the end product is built to the specification listed and the pictures shown may be close approximations. Pictures are more likely to be close approximations with more complex products, including transformers, power distribution systems, control systems, light tower systems and other highly customizable products. In no way does the approximation validate a potential return. We always build to the specification. If customers have questions, they should ask prior to purchase to clarify.
There are no returns on any medical and/or sanitizing products for obvious safety reasons. This includes PPE (including masks), tests, thermometers, sprayers and UVC lighting of any kind (portable and surface)
Many international orders, specialty orders and other complex build orders require prepayment in advance. This prepayment represents a commitment to the order. Cancelling the order will result in a deduction from the original amount paid if any refund is available, since an investment of time and money is typically required to acquire materials and prepare the order. While not all orders in this category require prepayment, cancellation fees may apply to other build orders as well. The percentage of the deduction is at Larson’s discretion but usually ranges from 30 to 50%.
