The PMSL-2017-GM-TH-12V-IR-850 post mount halogen spotlight with removeable IR filter is an ideal option for operators who require the use of both visible light and infrared light. Without the IR filter installed, this post mount spotlight draws 100 watts of power from a 12V DC power source and produces 245,000 industrial candlepower of intense halogen light. With the IR filter installed, this spotlight produces 850nm infrared light with a 93% light transmission rate.
Spotlight Features:
This post mount spotlight measures six inches in diameter and allows the operator to quickly and easily adjust the position of the light from inside the vehicle. The light then remains where it was positioned until the operator moves it again. Constructed from durable and corrosion resistant ABS, this spotlight can hold up to rough use. The shaft is constructed from stainless steel with a triple plate chrome coating and the handle is black rubber. A thumb operated toggle switch is located on top of the handle. The PMSL-2017-GM-TH-12V-IR-850 has a clear polycarbonate lens and can project a spot beam up to 600 feet in length.
Power/Wiring:
The PMSL-2017-GM-TH-12V-IR-850 draws 9.5 amps on 12V. A single positive lead from the handle connects to vehicle power and the spotlight is grounded via a mounting kit to the vehicle chassis.
IR Filter:
The PMSL-2017-GM-TH-12V-IR-850 comes with a removeable IR filter that allows the unit to operate as an infrared spotlight when the situation calls for it. Operators install the filter by simply removing the standard lens bezel on the spotlight and twisting the IR filter in its place. Once the IR filter is twisted onto the spotlight, it is secured via a single set screw found on the bottom of the filter. The IR filter is constructed from machined aluminum and the IR lens is coated borosilicate. The IR filter that comes with the PMSL-2017-GM-TH-12V-IR-850 contains all visible light when it is installed properly and only allows 850nm infrared light through.
Mounting:
This infrared spotlight is designed to mount through the A-pillar post of the vehicle and may require notching the door to close after installation. An installation kit, mounting hardware, and post drilling template are provided with the unit from our factory. This installation kit is vehicle specific and left/right side specific. Larson Electronics offers drivers side (left side of vehicle) and passenger side (right side of vehicle) mounting solutions - please choose mounting side when ordering. For right-hand drive vehicles, please choose passenger side for the right side driver`s side of the vehicle. Larson Electronics recommends having a body shop or automotive upfitter perform the installation. Larson Electronics does not install post mount lights.
