This unit consists of a non-sparking cord reel with an on/off switch (on the reel, not along the cord), 50' of SOOW cord and a 10-watt LED hand lamp. The EHL-LED-7W-50-HR-SW drop light has no ballast and the housing is constructed of non-sparking aluminum, which results in a very lightweight unit. An on/off switch located on the reel is available for seamless light activation and deactivation. The non-sparking reel holds 50` of SOOW cord for convenient cord management. Unlike gas burning and arc type lamps that have glass bulbs, LEDs have no filaments or fragile housings to break during operation. Instead of heating a small filament or using a combination of gases to produce light, light emitting diodes (LEDs) use semi-conductive materials that illuminate when electric current applied and emitting light. By nature, LED light sources run significantly cooler than traditional lamps, reducing the chance of accidental burns and increased temperatures due to heat emissions. This solid state design of light emitting diodes provides a more reliable, stable, durable, and energy efficient light source over traditional lighting.
This hand lamp has a high efficiency LED bulb that requires no ballast, so the operator doesn`t need to drag a ballast housing around. This can be particularly annoying when the ballast becomes entangled in the cord. The light produced by this unit has a 6000k color temperature, which is much sharper and whiter than the light produced by incandescent lamps. The light produced by this lamp is ideal for close work and inspection activities where good contrast and true color representation is needed. The LED lamp in this unit runs much cooler than incandescent or fluorescent lamps, resulting in a lamp housing that remains cool to the touch and eliminates the accidental burns often encountered with incandescent drop lights.
