The Larson Electronics MGS-480.2X30A-3P-30KVA-208.120-4X20A power distribution substation converts 480VAC three phase electrical current to three phase 208Y/120VAC. This unit provides operators the ability to safely tap into and distribute 480VAC power from a variety of sources including generators and direct grid power.
The MGS-480.2X30A-3P-30KVA-208.120-4X20A portable power distribution system gives operators the ability to power their 480 volt and 125 volt equipment from a single system. On the primary side, operators connect 480 volt line-in power using a customer provided cord to two L16-30R receptacles for 480V equipment. On the secondary side, operators connect to four 520R-GFCI receptacles for 125V equipment.
A customer-provided cord brings 480V three phase power to the primary 480V three phase 100-amp main circuit breaker NEMA 3R panel, which contains two 480V, 30-amp, 3-pole breakers protecting two L16-30R receptacles, and passes 480V three phase through to the transformer. The NEMA 3R 30KVA transformer converts 480V to 208Y/120V and feeds the secondary 208Y/120V three phase 125-amp main lug NEMA 3R panel. This secondary panel contains four 125V, 20-amp, 1-pole breakers protecting four 520R-GFCI receptacles.
The transformer and distribution assembly is mounted onto a rugged carbon steel frame with integrated skid pockets and a top located lifting eyelet to allow easy transport.
The standard frame construction is ¼ inch thick, 3 inch square tubing frame. This can be replaced for an additional cost with stainless steel, hot dip galvanized steel, or aluminum depending on the customers needs. This power distribution system is designed for outdoor use and applications including but not limited to, plant maintenance, hazardous location operations, as a welding station, shows, exhibits, and marine applications.
Certification:
Larson Electronics is a UL 1640 panel shop and certified to build portable power distribution systems. All units are built in accordance to NFPA 70 (National Electric Code) and certified to UL 1640. All equipment is NEMA 3R rated for indoor and outdoor use and provide a degree of protection against dirt, water, and ice. NEMA 4 and NEMA 4X equipment can be equipped upon request.
Grounding:
Transformer is grounded to the frame and we provide a grounding lug on the frame for the earth ground.
Applications:
This power distribution system is ideal for indoor or outdoor use and applications including but not limited to, construction sites, plant maintenance, plant turnarounds, shows, exhibits, and shipyard operations. These power distribution systems are popularly used in applications where external power sources are often necessary. We also offer class rated transformers for use within explosion proof and hazardous location environments.
