The Larson Electronics MGS-4X480-112.5K-4X250-6X120 power distribution substation converts 480VAC three phase electrical current into 240D/120VAC three phase. This unit provides operators the ability to safely tap into and distribute 480VAC power from a variety of sources including generators and direct grid power.
Portable Power Distribution Purpose and Use: The MGS-4X480-112.5K-4X250-6X120 portable power distribution system gives operators the ability to power their 480 volt, 240 volt and 120 volt equipment from a single system. On the primary side, operators connect 480 volt line-in power using a customer provided cord to two 60-amp, 460R7W receptacles, one 200-amp, 4200RS2W receptacle and one 100-amp, 4100R7W receptacle for 480V equipment. On the secondary side, operators connect to two 60-amp, 460R9W receptacles and to two 30-amp, 430R9W receptacles for 240V equipment, and to two L5-30R receptacles and four 5-20R GFCI duplex receptacles for 120V equipment. All receptacles are mounted on a backplate and equipped with weatherproof covers.
Operation: A customer provided cord brings 480V three phase power to the NEMA 3R 600-amp, 480V three phase main circuit breaker panel on the primary side, which contains one 200-amp, 3-pole, 480V breaker protecting one 200-amp, 480V, 4200RS2W receptacle, one 100-amp, 3-pole, 480V breaker protecting one 100-amp, 480V, 4100R7W receptacle, two 60-amp, 3-pole, 480V breakers protecting two 60-amp, 480V, 460R7W receptacles, and one 175-amp, 3-pole breaker, and passes 480V three phase power to the transformer. The NEMA 3R 112.5 KVA transformer converts 480V to 240D/120V three phase and passes the current a 400-amp, 240D/120V three phase main lug only panel. This secondary side contains two 60-amp, 3-pole, 250V breakers protecting two 60-amp, 250V, 460R9W receptacles, two 30-amp, 3-pole, 250V breakers protecting two 30-amp, 430R9W, 250V receptacles, two 30-amp, 1-pole breakers protecting two 30-amp, 125V, L5-30R receptacles, and four 20-amp, 1-pole breakers protecting four 20-amp, 125V, 5-20R GFCI receptacles.
Protective Construction: Unlike many portable power distribution boxes made of plastic and utilizing thin gauge, low grade metals in their construction, this unit is designed for serious use and is ruggedly constructed to withstand demanding conditions and heavy duty industrial applications. The transformer and load assembly is mounted on a 3/16" thick carbon steel mounting platform and the load center/distribution assembly is mounted to the standard 2" x 2" x 1/8" square carbon steel tubing frame, resulting in an extremely stable, durable and well protected power distribution platform. This model is equipped with forklift skid pockets, locking polyurethane casters, and a top located lifting eyelet which allows easy lifting with cable or chain hooks. This can be replaced for an additional cost with stainless steel, hot dip galvanized steel, or aluminum depending on the customer’s needs. Larger units are available upon request and can be equipped with skids or trailer mounted.
