' Product Overview '
The Larson Electronics SPLED-KLP.15-PED-WS-24.24-DF-MS Solar Powered Pedestrian Warning Sign enhances pedestrian safety and is ideal for parking lots and sidewalks. Two 24"x24" crosswalk signs leverage a solar-powered Class I rated LED strobe (amber) with adjustable, dual motion sensors for illuminative notifications when movement is detected. Equipped with a sealed lead acid battery pack, all system components are secured on a 4.35' to 15' fold-over steel pole with a manual winch and padlockable cover. The SPLED-KLP.15-PED-WS-24.24-DF-MS increases safety for pedestrians in public locations. This complete, solar-powered solution includes two 24" x 24" pedestrian warning signs, one solar amber LED strobing beacon and two motion sensors. All system components are secured on a 4.35' to 15' fold-over pole with a manual winch and padlockable cover. The steel tower is compatible with permanent mounting installations on concrete surfaces. Fold-over Tower: The knock over light pole from Larson Electronics is designed to allow operators to quickly and safely deploy all system components in locations where this equipment must be elevated to heights of 15` for effective coverage. This tower is constructed of square steel tubing and can be folded over during maintenance. The C-channel base section is constructed of 3/8" steel with the pivot point 8` above the ground. When fully lowered, the mast head sits 4.35` above the ground. The mast is elevated using an included 1,000 lbs hand winch with 3/16" galvanized steel cable, raising the mast tubing and securing it in the base section. A padlockable winch cover prevents tampering at the site (padlock not included). The KLP series of knock over poles are powder coated with glossy blue finish for corrosion resistance and aesthetics, or galvanized for superior corrosion resistance. 
Pedestrian Warning Sign: Reflective material on the yellow/black signs ensure visibility, when viewed from different angles and on both sides. Measuring 24"x24", the unit features a Class I rated LED beacon located above the signs. The LED amber strobe light is activated when movement is detected by the adjustable dual motion sensors, which supports a minimum sensing range of 25`. The motion sensors can be pointed in different directions, allowing the sign to face traffic, while the sensor faces the direction of crosswalk traffic. The light will stay on for 15 seconds after motion is detected and the sensitivity of the sensor can be adjusted to meet each application. LED Beacon: The powerful LED beacon is equipped with 30 flash patterns, including four simulated rotating patterns. This beacon has a black powder coated die cast base that contains a fully potted circuit board. A clear polycarbonate lens protects the LED assembly; and the housing is waterproof, shock resistant and built for reliable operations. The strobe light is equipped with auxiliary LEDs on top, helping to make this a Class I rated beacon. LED Benefits: Unlike gas burning and arc type lamps that have glass bulbs, LEDs have no filaments or fragile housings to break during operation and/or transportation. Instead of heating a small filament or using a combination of gases to produce light, light emitting diodes (LEDs) use semi-conductive materials that illuminate when electric current is applied, providing instant illumination with no warm up or cool down time before re-striking. Because there is no warm up period, this light can be cycled on and off with no reduction in lamp life. LED lights run at significantly cooler temperatures than traditional metal halide and high pressure sodium lights and contain no harmful gases, vapors, or mercury, making them both safer and more energy efficient. No extra energy is wasted in cooling enclosed work areas due to external heat emissions from bulb type lights, and the operator risks associated with traditional lighting methods, such as accidental burns and exposure to hazardous substances contained in the glass bulbs, are eliminated. In addition, LEDs are also safer for the environment as they are 100% recyclable, which eliminates the need for costly special disposal services required with traditional gas burning and arc type lamps. Power/Wiring: This unit is 100% remote, powered by a solar panel. The 30-watt solar panel recharges the battery in 5 hours with direct sunlight. As with all solar powered equipment, charging time is affected by the amount of available ambient light. When ambient light levels drop below a certain level, such as on very cloudy days, the unit will not recharge. The solar panel is weatherproof and designed to catch the maximum amount of sunlight possible when properly installed. The motion sensor will activate the light upon detecting movement within range of the panel and keep the light on for 15 seconds after detection. A sealed lead acid battery pack is contained within the solar panel, not the crosswalk sign. The crosswalk sign is connected to the panel by a 10 foot 16/2 SOOW cord that provides flexibility for positioning of the solar panel and sign into their respective optimum locations independently of each other. Mount: The SPLED-KLP.15-PED-WS-24.24-DF-MS can be mounted on concrete surfaces via a 11.5" by 11.5" by 1" thick square base plate which has been drilled to accept four 1/2" anchor bolts. The anchor bolt holes are pre-drilled with 9" spacing from center to center. Larson Electronics can customize these units to the customer’s requirements with longer sections and larger mounting plates. For example, the LM-25 is another model that reaches to a length of 25 feet, with a 15 foot lower section and a 10 foot upper section and a 4 foot wide upper mounting bracket. We also offer a choice of either the manual 1,000 lbs hand winches included standard or optional electric winches.
