The GAU-HB-500W-LED-SS-3000K LED commercial fishing light from Larson Electronics produces 60,000 lumens of high intensity light while drawing only 480 watts at 3.34 amps from a 120 volt electrical system. Forty-eight Cree high output LEDs producing 1250 lumens each are arranged in rows and paired with PMMA high purity optics to produce a well focused 24° wide spot beam that is ideal for providing far reaching concentrated illumination while still covering a substantial amount of area. We also offer optional optics with 10° spot, 38° narrow flood, 60° flood, and 90° wide flood beam spreads to effectively illuminate a wide variety of locations onboard any commercial fishing vessel including crab boats and lobster fishing boats. The spot beams are tightly focused and are designed for high elevation mounting to achieve distance, making spot versions ideal for higher mounting locations. The flood beams are designed to provide more light over a larger area nearer the fixture, making flood versions ideal for use as dedicated work area and deck lights.
The GAU-HB-500W-LED-SS-3000K LED commercial fishing light fixture is designed with the rough and abusive conditions that commonly go hand in hand with commercial fishing including ice, snow, saltwater spray and freezing temperatures. This commercial fishing light fixture features LEDs that are sealed at the board level instead of the optic level. This design greatly increases the reliability and function of these LED light fixtures in environments where they are exposed to water on a regular basis. The LEDs in the GAU-HB-500W-LED-SS-3000K also run hot enough to prevent the build-up of ice and snow on the front of the fixtures while still remaining cooler than heavier and less efficient lighting types such as metal halide fixtures. The spacing between the LED strips in this unit also contribute towards snow and ice melting off before becoming an issue. The stainless steel mounting bracket is ideal for the saltwater conditions that commercial ocean fishing vessels face while also being the superior choice for freshwater environments due to the increased resistance against corrosion. The area being illuminated by each tower is 500` in length and 300` in width. Unlike the metal halide light fixtures, there are no hot spots with these LED fixtures. This high output LED light fixture provides an even beam spread over the targeted work area without overcast, glare, light spillage, and wasted illumination. Color rendering is also increased with LED light plants, providing a more realistic night vision that more closely resembles natural daylight illumination.
LED Benefits:
Unlike gas burning and arc type lamps that have glass bulbs, LEDs have no filaments or fragile housings to break during operation and/or transportation. Instead of heating a small filament or using a combination of gases to produce light, light emitting diodes (LEDs) use semi-conductive materials that illuminate when electric current is applied, providing instant illumination with no warm up or cool down time before re-striking. Because there is no warm up period, this light can be cycled on and off with no reduction in lamp life.
LED lights run at significantly cooler temperatures than traditional metal halide and high pressure sodium lights and contain no harmful gases, vapors, or mercury, making them both safer and more energy efficient. No extra energy is wasted in cooling enclosed work areas due to external heat emissions from bulb type lights, and the operator risks associated with traditional lighting methods, such as accidental burns and exposure to hazardous substances contained in the glass bulbs, are eliminated. In addition, LEDs are also safer for the environment as they are 100% recyclable, which eliminates the need for costly special disposal services required with traditional gas burning and arc type lamps.
Heat Management:
Heat is the single largest factor in premature LED failure and color shifting. These LED units feature individual heat sinks per bank of six LEDs to control heat buildup rather than utilizing a single housing to dissipate heat. This allows for more thorough cooling of the LEDs for extended operating periods. This allows the LEDs to be driven at up to 90% capacity without overheating or visible loss of light output. The end result is more light with less heat and longer LED life with an average 70% lumen maintenance after 80,000 hours. However, despite this overall cooler running temperature than other more traditional metal halide or high pressure sodium lights, they still produce enough safe heat to effectively prevent the buildup of ice and snow on the lens. This is ideal for commercial fishing vessels as less time will be wasted clearing snow and ice from lights which means more time spent on fishing.
Durability:
As well as unparalleled heat control, the GAU-HB-500W-LED-SS-3000K series of LED commercial fishing lights from Larson Electronics also offer IP67 rated construction that is designed to withstand the extremes of environmental and operating conditions that are commonplace onboard commercial fishing boats. These units can withstand rapid temperature changes of -40° Celsius to +80° Celsius (-40°F to 186°F), are waterproof, and resist the ingress of dust, dirt and humidity. The housings are formed from die cast aluminum and the optics are high transmission PMMA with 98% light transmittance. The Cree LEDs help these units achieve resistance to vibrations and are rated at 70% lumen maintenance after 80,000 hours of use. We recommend these LED lights for use in commercial fishing applications where a lot of vibration, dust, dirt, water, snow, ice and abusive working conditions are encountered.
Mounting:
Each unit is equipped with a back mount trunnion style mounting bracket constructed of 304 stainless steel that allows the light to be attached to flat surfaces and adjusted through 160° of vertical movement. To adjust the unit after mounting, the user simply loosens the set screws located on either side of the unit, moves it into the desired position, then re-tightens the screws. The base of the mounting trunnion is equipped with several machined slots which allow users to utilize existing mounting holes and slide the unit for precise mount positioning.
Voltage:
These lights are universal voltage, not multi-tap, and operate on a range of voltages. For alternating current from a range of 90V AC to 305V AC, including commonly found 120V, 220V, 240V, and 277V. For direct current from a range of 127V DC to 431V DC, including 250V DC. This fixture operates on both voltages, automatically sensing incoming voltage and adjusting accordingly, without any adjustments or modifications required.
